Decrease heart rate: If you want to lower your heart rate when exercising then simply lower the intensity of your workout. For example, if you are running then slow your run and decrease your arm swing. Stopping completely will lower your heart rate but once you return to the same intensity your heart rate will likely go back to the same level.
