A member asked:

What are the rarest birth defects you've seen or know about? can ultrasound show them all?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mermaid: Seen by me , personally, syringomelia, where the lower limbs are fused, there are no genitals or anus. The baby resembles a mermaid (man). Ultrasound cannot detect all congenital anomalies. Many are too subtle to see by this medium. The one i described can be seen.
