If a dermoid cyst is present at birth, why wouldn't it show up on ultrasound til the age of 33? have had numerous ultrasounds prior to diagnosis.

Yes ,It is possible: even though can be detected in childhood , some times not detected in childhood , as some the mesodermal elements ( bone, teeth, hair ) do not mature till later age .
