A member asked:

What happens to the partial pressure of carbon dioxide during rapid breathing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is decreased: Pco2 decreases with hyperventilation because carbon dioxide is a waste product produced by the body as a result of aerobic metabolism. If activity increases, metabolism increases and thus carbon dioxide increase, so we naturally breathe faster. If one hyperventilates more than the increase in metabolism, then level of carbon dioxide with be reduced, because it is being eliminated by exhalation.
