A member asked:

How likely is an 87 yr. old man to have a "code blue" in the icu due to carbon dioxide buildup in his lungs, even though he is hooked to a ventilator for breathing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Minimal Risk: If the patient is hooked up to a ventilator the great majority of the time the vent can breath for the patient and prevent carbon dioxide buildup from occurring.
