Depends on the cause: Most aches and pains in the knee without a major injury can be improved with non-impact aerobic activity (swimming, biking, elliptical), quadriceps and hip abductor and short external rotator strengthening, hamstring stretching, ice, nsaids, avoidance of an activity that causes pain. If the symptoms persist or there is significant swelling, see an orthopaedic surgeon.
