How do you fix a labral tear and impingement?

Hip or Shoulder?: If you are referring to the hip, a trial of physical therapy, nsaids, and activity modification is attempted. Then, hip arthroscopy can be used (or less commonly, an open surgery) to repair the labrum to the socket and bur off the extra bone on the ball and socket to protect the repair and eliminate the impingement. Shoulder - arthroscopically, you can repair the labrum to the bone as well.

Repair & re-contour: Labral tears are preferably managed with repair as apposed to resection which involves securing labrum back to edge of socket (acetabulum) with anchors. Impingement is corrected by removing excess bone around edge of socket which can crush(damage) labrum as hip flexed (pincher impingement) or removing excess bone from femoral neck (cam impingement). Most commonly there is a combo of the two.

Stem Cell Therapy: There are many different options for stem cell therapies in the us. I would suggest you evaluate all of them thoroughly before choosing. So far the only practice that has significant research and patient base regarding stem cell therapy are the Regenexx Physicians Network. They have over 6500 patients in their registry with pretty good results. Check out Regenexx.Com.
