Skin cancer: Skin cancer is very unusual in adolescents. One definite cause is the use of tanning beds which can cause skin cancer, even in young people. Excess sun exposure may also be a contributing factor to early onset skin cancer.

UV exposure: Over exposure to uv rays from the sun or tanning beds are the most common cause. Genetics and family history also play a strong role. Number of moles especially large or atypical moles, skin and hair color, number of sunburns are risk factors.
