Same-day surgery: Most people can go home the same day after their gallbladder surgery; once in a while, people may stay a day or two, especially if the operation is performed emergently.

Same day home: Most patients go home the same day as surgery. Pain is usually easily controlled with oral pain meds. Some older, sicker patients can spend the night. In the old days, people would come in the day before and go home in about 4-5 days!
