Depends on cause: Manage or cure? Most md's tend to 'manage' the pain whereas a good osteopathic dr. Will look for more subtle causes often overlooked by other drs.A good history is key, but so is a good phys including an osteopathic hands-on exam to pick up those subtle clues.Osteopathic manipulation or other therapies such as prolotherapy are often curative. So, cure or manage? Depends on the cause found.

Get checked out: The question is why are you having such severe pain. You need to be examined and your pain further evaluated to identify the cause so the appropriate treatment plan can be developed. You should see your primary doc first and they can refer you to a specialist if needed.
