Can supraventricular tachycardia be cured without surgery?

SVT: Svt can be controlled but not cured with medications. These have to be taken continuously in order to help prevent recurrences. A "cure" can be achieved with a technique called radiofrequency ablation or rfa. This gives the best chance for cure without having to take medications lifelong. There is a risk of needing a permanent pacemaker but risk is low when done by an expert in the technique.

Yes...: Svt can be taken care of, or cured without surgery. It is a relatively simple treatment that does require a catheterization. A relatively large IV will be placed in the top of you leg and an electrical catheter will be advanced up into the heart. The abnormal electrical area will be identified or "mapped" then the abnormal area can be zapped or frozen. You should go home the same day.
