Yes: Depends on age, activity level and which finger, how many fingers and which joint. Fusion is generally a more durable treatment and more useful for certain joints but replacement is a option for others.Generally in an arthritic hand with multiple joints both are used.

Yes we do: It depends on which joint is involved and the age and expectations of each patient. Some joints have implants placed within them while others may be treated just with removal of certain bones. Others may be treated by fusing the involved joint.
