Novocaine: If you are having a procedure performed in which there will be some degree of discomfort, nitrous oxide or laughing gas may allow you to feel less anxious, but will do little to alleviate the discomfort from the procedure. You will still likely require a local anesthetic. The nitrous may make the injections more tolerable.
