Very dangerous: However, if it is small and goes to a small part of he lung, it can be minimal. Many have had a pe and never known it. Hhowever, a clot going to the central vessels of the lung can kill a person instantly.

Can be bad: As dr. Proffitt said, blood clots in the lungs can be very dangerous. There is a range though. There are some clots in the lung that actually go undetected. They are small, cause no symptoms, and people don't know they are there. On the other hand, lungs clots often cause pain, shortness of breath, and cough. These are treated with blood thinners. The worst clots can be instantly fatal.
