Can be dangerous: A blood clot in the lungs can be quite dangerous, especially if it blocks outflow of blood from the heart. Many times it arises from the veins of the legs, but they can also come from the pelvis or even arms. Patients with conditions such as cancer can be more prone to developing blood clots. Typically, people experience sudden onset of chest pain or shortness of breath.
