Fiber: Good general nutrition with added fiber in your diet will be helpful.

Diverticulitis.: All what we know is changing, and the answer is probably nothing. A study that came outma week ago states that a low fiber diet is helpful. I do tell my patients to chew seeds and nuts carefully, and not to get constipated.

It can't : There are no proven strategies known to prevent diverticulitis. The cause (pathogenesis) of diverticulitis is an area of active research. Avoiding seeds, nuts, etc has been unfounded and no longer recommended. Fiber is recommended more for prevention of diverticulosis rather than diverticulitis.
