What is dupuytren's disease caused by and what can be done about it?

Dupuytren's disease: It is caused by thickening of the tissue under the skin in the hands and feet causing nodules & bands to form. No one knows why it happens. The treatment varies per the degree of the disease. If it affects function of hands / walking, Collagenase injections or aponeurotomy done in the office setting are treatment options. Nodules alone or bands alone do not require treatment.
