Is there a known mediation that improves cirrhosis of the liver?

No: Cirrhosis of the liver is scar tissue. Scar tissue is usually permanent and there are no medications that i can recommend generally for cirrhosis. If you have NASH diagnosed by liver biopsy without heart disease, vitamin E 800 units per day can help. If you have viral hepatitis b or c, you should talk to your doctor. Many people take milk thistle, but it is no more helpful than placebo.

Depends: In severe cases of alcohol-induced hepatitis with cirrhosis, corticosteroids can sometimes reduce the inflammation, resulting in less ultimate scarring. But no medicine can take away scar. Prior to severe scarring, there is always inflammation, and treatment can reduce that. There are meds for hepatitis b/c as well as primary biliary cirrhosis that can slow it down. Stop alcohol completely.
