See below: The ANA can be negative or the values could potentially be in the thousands. However the value is always not the most important point. Possibly more important is the patient's complaints, a good physical exam, and other labarotory tests. Putting all these things together will mean more then simply an ANA value. Alow value of 1:80 and diffuse joint swelling means more the 1:160 and no symptoms.
