When you view objects close to the eye, how does the eye focus so close to your eye?

Lens in the eye: The eye contains a soft, flexible lens. When you look at something up close, the muscles inside your eye flex and change the shape of the lens. This changes the focus of your eye to near. When you look up into the distance, the muscle relax, and the lens goes back to its original shape and focal point.
