I say 12.: Varied answers from varied eye care specialists. In general, i advise my patients that are wearing rigid gas permeable (rgp) contact lenses to not wear them for more than 12 hours a day. You do not want to suffer from contact lens overwear syndrome. This is a corneal inflammation that results from wearing your rgp contacts too long because they feel comfortable. The next am you will have eye pain.
