Incremental.: Varied answers from various eye care specialists. Generally I have a new rigid gas permeable (rgp) contact lens wearer, who is just commencing their use, to wear it for 4 hours the first day and then go up by one hour daily from that point on to a maximum of 12 hours. You want to avoid contact lens overwear syndrome where the eyes feel so comfortable with the rgps on that you do not break them in.
