Can someone explain what ovulation is and the process?

Release of an egg: The ovaries are a collection of thousands of immature eggs. Each month one (usually) egg matures within a small cyst. Ovulation occurs when that cyst ruptures, releasing the mature egg which can then potentially be fertilized.
