Shouldn't be bad: An hsg typically has the same set up as a pap smear. A small catheter is inserted into the cervix held in place with a little balloon that gets inflated to hold it in place. This may cause cramping, it shouldn't be severe. Once the contrast is injected, it shouldn't hurt if it's a low volume low pressure hsg for essure test. If it's for infertility, it may cause slight pain. Take nsaids prior.
