It depends: Binge-eating, particularly when associated with vomiting, can cause acid damage to your esophagus or even possibly fatal rupture (bursting open) of your esophagus. The best way to prevent further damage is to get into a treatment program for binge-eating and try to cut down or stop. Some people with bulimia need to take medications to block or prevent acid damage (like zantac, (ranitidine) or prilosec).
