How long has it been: If the surgery has been recent, then you need to give it time. If the surgery has been a while ago, then there is chance it will not resolve. Unfortunately with surgery around the nerves and spine, this is a complication that can occur. You can get into a brace for the ankle which can help with walking.

It varies: It varies and depends in part on what has caused it. Some cases will resolve in days to weeks after surgery and some may be permanent. You would certainly want to make sure your surgeon is aware of the problem to make sure ther is not something currently ongoing that is causing the problem. Thank you for your question.
