Is birth trauma a real thing?

It varies: Some women feel they have somehow failed if they have a c-section. There is certainly a group that feels, not totally without justification, that physicians are too quick and too cavalier with c-sections. A truly emergency c-section can be very scary and traumatic with little time to explain things. On the other side are those that request a c-section without even trying labor.
