Stop look & listen: There are hundreds of causes of abdominal pain which can be narrowed down to a handful by having your doctor take a thorough history of your symptoms, supplemented by a careful physical exam. If necessary, this can be aided by certain tests such as a ct scan or ultrasound. In some cases, they may refer you to a gastroenterologist (stomach specialist) who may recommend endoscopy.

Combination: Take a complete history="your story of what, when, where, why, foods, diet, other issues - prior problems , habits, surgery exam your abdomen and pelvis do tests with ultrasound/ x-ray / blood and using contrast-dye studies perhaps look with scopes -upper esophagogastroduodenoscopy or lower- colonoscopy.
