Pituitary Gland: Tsh (thyroid stimulating hormone) is made in the pituitary gland, which lies just below the brain. The brain and pituitary monitor circulating levels of thyroid hormone. If thyroid levels are low, the pituitary releases higher levels of TSH to get the thyroid gland to make more thyroid hormone. If thyroid levels are high, lower levels of TSH provide less stimulation to the thyroid.
