Family docs: May be board certified and trained, and know how all of the body systems and organs work. They almost always know their limitations and when to ask for consults from specialists.

Yes they do: Family physicians are trained to check, diagnose and treat functions of all vital organs.If there are any complicated cases they will refer the patient to appropriate specialist.
