How does diprivan differ from narcotics for stopping pain?

It is not a narcotic: Diprivian or Propofol is an anesthetic and not a narcotic. It does not have significant pain relieving properties.

Diprivan: This is an anesthetic agent and not a pain medication. It is dangerous to use outside the realm of anesthesia and by anyone who is not trained in its use.

Not used for pain: Diprivan (propofol) is referred to as a hypnotic. It is a drug which induces sleep. It is not consider to be an analgesic. It can only be given iv. It is used primarily for the induction of general anesthesia. It's use is (or should be) restricted to medical settings. It is my understanding that this medication was involved in the demise of michael jackson.
