Not increased: Estrogen only for menopausal women was shown not to statistically increase DVT rates. Estrogen + progestin (synthetic) increased the risk two fold. This seems to implicate synthetic progestins since the same does not hold true for progesterone. I suspect the problem child in HRT therapy is synthetic progestin (medroxy Progesterone acetate). The focus is always on estrogen though.
