Calciphylaxis on diabetic patient; is it related?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Not directly: Calciphylaxis can occur in the setting of kidney problems (renal failure), abnormal calcium-phosphate regulation, and hyperparathyroidism, but the actual cause still remains unclear. Having diabetes may increase the risk for calciphylaxis. Also trauma to fatty tissue from Insulin injections may be a separate risk factor.
