Depends: Since diabetes can affect many other organ systems in your body, the answer depends on your overall health. Though simply having diabetes is not a contraindication to having intercourse, please consult with your physician to make sure you do not have any other issues which may affect your ability to have intercourse safely.

Yes: If the patient with diabetes is female make certain that the blood glucose levels (a1c) is as close to 6-6.5 as possible to minimize risk of problems for mom and baby. Use contraception until glucose is well controlled!
