Maybe: Studies are coming about the the use of honey in diabetics. The caveat being: this must only be used under the guidance and supervision of a trained medical professional that sees and treats wounds and must only be medical grade products.

Can be used: There are some doctors that have used this treatment but one has to off load the area and have debridement of the ulcer.

Yes but....: Wound care requires multi-discipline input for proper wound healing. A honey dressing is one small aspect of the entire picture. There are multiple modalities and multiple strategies to get a wound closed but it takes a knowledgeable well trained specialist to know when to implement the appropriate treatment during the course of wound healing similar to a conductor leading an orchestra.

Honey and DM : Honey is one of 4000 wound care products. It can be helpful in some patients with some wounds; it is not a panacea; it will not be helpful to many patients; it should not replace careful observation by trained health professionals; it should not be used without clinicians observing the wound.
