Talk with doctor: Age, male sex, caucasion ancestry, genetics, smoking, high blood pressure, and COPD are the main risk factors for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Elderly white male smokers are at the highest risk, but anyone with an immediate family member with a history of an abdominal aortic aneurysm should review their risk factors with a doctor and ask about screening. Treatment is often minimally invasive.

Yes: Abdominal aortic aneurysm or AAA is much more common in males but could happen in females usually at older age.
