Growing size of abdominal aortic aneurysm; how much is safe?

Aneurysm size: Beyond 4cm, the aneurysm is observed very closely. It needs be operated before it burst.

5 cm: Recommend abdominal aneurysms be repaired once greater than 5 cm in diameter.

Speed matters: 5-5.5 cm is the usual size that repair is recommended. But a growing aneurysm may need earlier repair -- esp if it increases in size by more than 1 cm in less than a year.
