A member asked:

My allergies have just been killing me lately. do i need to see a specialist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: There are many effective over-the-counter medications for allergies. For allergic rhinitis there is allegra, zyrtec, Claritin & nasacrom. For allergic eyes there is zaditor (ketotifen). For eczema there is Hydrocortisone cream & moisturizing creams & ointments. For hives there is allegra, zyrtec & claritin. See your pcp before going to a specialist. Allergists are glad to be here. We're not always required.
