What are the telemedicine options for cardiac rehab?

Limited : I always think the best rehab medicine is hands on. However, telemedicine is a great way to remind people to do things. It is a great way to keep a person who might be inclined to not follow a home exercize program to maintain it. Cardiac rehab is not just having someone walk, but be certain to eat right, take their medications correctly. Not smoke etc, so there are benefits of telemedicin here.

Limited for now: Telemedicine for cardiac rehabilitation is limited due to the need to closely monitor the patient during any rehab program. In the future, with improved home monitoring, apps for smart phones, and a physician's ability to remotely monitor a patient may move us closer to that day.

Very limited: Telemedicine has many uses but it also has limitations. At the present time it is not generally used for rehabilitation programs though there may be some cases where it could be considered for treatment planning and the monitoring of progress over time.
