Can you explain the ross procedure?

Replace Aortic valve: Very interesting operation concieved by mr. Donald ross, a briish cardiac surgeon for severe aortic valve disease. Unique, in that patients aortic valve is replaced with their own pulmonary valve (autograft). Patient's pulmonary valve is then replaced with a porcine heart valve graft. Rationale is that patients own pulmonary valve functions longer that a porcineaortic valve replacement graft.
