Can be: There is a blockage in the blood flow feeding your limbs which carries the oxygen and ultimately your tissues can die because they are starved of the proper blood flow and oxygen necessary for normal life. It is important to diagnose early and modify any potential risks contributing to it such as quitting tobacco use.

Not always: PAD is typically not life threatening. Can cause pain when walking or pain at rest. However if the pain becomes severe or if there is significant skin discoloration or development of ulcers this can progress to more severe complications such as amputation if not treated.
