Health anxiety: . . . Is when a person is extremely worried or fearful about his/her health -- fearing that s/he has a dreaded condition that hasn't been diagnosed yet. This concern becomes extremely time-consuming, and can be disabling. The person interprets every physical sensation as something dire, like heart attack, cancer, aids, etc. Also called hypochondriasis, it is usually a long-term condition.
