IgM vs. IgG: Igm tests are typically ordered when an infection is thought to be present for one week or more. Igm levels often disappear within the first few months. Igg testing is typically ordered when the infection has been thought to be present for 2 or more weeks. Igg levels my stay elevated for years after an infection has resolved.
