Any links between autoimmune diseases and type i diabetes?

Yes: Type 1 diabetes is caused by autoimmunity, leading to death of the beta cells in the pancreas responsible for making insulin. Once these cells are destroyed, the pancreas can longer make insulin, and type 1 diabetes occurs.
