I have type 1 diabetes(20 years) hypothyroidism(10yrs ) , autoimmune atrophic gastritis(1yr), and pernicious anemia(1yr). today my igm serum was low. first time doing this lab. would my baseline igm serum be low or could it be something else? thanks?

Autoimmune disease and Diabetes have been associated with low IgM. Are the other immunoglobulins normal? IgG and IgA for example? Have there been any serious infections or recurrent infections? One example is pneumonia.

How low? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would have helped had you provided the results of your immunoglobulin quantification. Wish you good health!

Result for b12 is 198 and the normal range is 211-946. Doctor said she has pernicious anemia. Also her intrinsic factor is +. Is it atrophic gastritis?
