Ineffective: Hemoglobin A1c level has been utilized to monitor how well hyperglycemia (as in diabetics) has been controlled.

Not very: A hba1c test is used to determine how well high glucose levels (hyperglycemia) have been controlled over the last few months. It is not a test that is used to follow hypoglycemia.
