40: The aua recommends a baseline psa at age 40 for men and based on this level, the frequency of further testing can be recommended. If a man's psa is < 1.0 at 40, repeat testing can safely be deferred for 5-10 years. If higher, more careful followup is recommended as this can signal higher rsk for development of prostate cancer.

Psa screening guide: I agree with american cancer society....Screening should be discussed with pts if they have at least a ten year life expectancy starting at 50.....If a relative has prostate cancer screening should begin at 40.....Risk doubles with a praimary relative.
