My baby's teether doesn't seem to help any. is there something else i can do?

Analgesics: For pain related to teething, analgesics work best; Acetaminophen for all ages, Ibuprofen for babies 6 months and older. Teething gels are not a good idea as there is a risk of adverse reactions and they don't work very well. Cold teething rings can cause panniculitis of the cheeks (purple lumps due to fat necrosis). But first be sure your baby's symptoms are really due to teething.

Moist washcloth : You can try a clean washcloth dipped in cool water (squeeze out all the excess water so that it is just barely damp) , wrap it around your index finger and gently place in your child's mouth. Your baby wiill bite on it and the coolness will relieve some gum line soreness.

Frozen bagel: A frozen bagel half also works.
