Can you take minocin (minocycline) if you have mono symptoms?

No Abx for mono: Mononucleosis is a viral disease, and therefore not treatable with antibiotics. The only exception is when someone with mono also has strep throat, which sometimes happens. In those cases, antibiotics are indicated. Monocycline would probably work, but it's not the first choice of therapy for strep throat.

No Abx for mono: Mononucleosis is a viral disease. Antibiotics aren't effective in treating it because they only treat bacterial infections. The only time you'd use antibiotics with mono would be when you also have strep throat, which can sometimes accompany mono. In such cases, Minocin (minocycline) would probably work, but it's not standard therapy for strep.
