It works for some.: Minocycline and Doxycycline have been shown by eular (multi-unversity), and the nih in the us. Most rheumatologists do not use these, even though there are controlled trials demonstrating equal effececy with Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and sulfasalzine. I use both quite often.

Effective!: Most of my colleagues do not use tetracyclines, but in two\large studues conducted in europe and by the acr in the usa, it was quite effective. Dr. O'dell, president of the acr believes Doxycycline to be more effective, and i agree. I start all patients on one of these two drugs wirth mtx , because of safety and cost.
